Is again illegal. I'm against it but respect the members on here who are great sportsmen and just wanted to give u the 411.
There was a meeting today and at each Kiosk is a form letter explaining the legality.

Thanks Matt. I saw the same thing just a bit ago:

Determination
The revised Fish and Game Regulation authorize spearfishing within Sacramento County, including on the American River, for specific species and locations. The Plan and County Code prohibit ballistic devices which includes spear guns within County Parks. The Department has determined that continued enforcement of Sacramento County Code section 9.36.060 is the most appropriate policy for the American River Parkway. Allowing exceptions for weapons with the potential to transport them in multiple areas of the Parkway is inconsistent with the Parkway Plan and County Code and therefore an exception will not be issued by the Director of Regional Parks.

You almost just have to laugh at the whole situation.

How disfunctional can two governing agencies be with regards to communication and indecisiveness. Both the DFW and the Regional parks regulations are hard enough for most people to understand/ interpret let alone when they are inconsistently enforced and constantly changing through the year. Well at least we have something in writing that specifically addresses it now.

.....Talk about a CYA  :smt063 (Literally) for the Regional Parks Director.

Seems a bit bizarre.

In the sac county code there's a special exception for designated areas.  If there's an archery range, I'm assuming there's an exception.  Santa Clara actually owns a rifle range with trap and skeet areas but I can't take a shotgun outside the specified area to shoot skeet in the field outside the designated area.

Thanks for the update Matt. I'm glad they made that decision as it will help protect the big breeder stripers.

I have a picture someone sent me of two spearos holding up two 30-40 pounders that were harvested.
The bigger one is obviously a huge female. Makes me pretty sad.

They are in the AR system from the upper sections all the way down to the mouth and beyond. I usually see them diving as well as sight fishing. Usually the really big ones are seen cruising by themselves but two years ago a couple of us on the board saw two schools of 4-5 each school swimming in a highly classified stretch of water.
