D,

personally I would say a 10lb ling or halibut is worth a 1lb cannonball, but I'm looking forward to your report!

Dddingle bar gear is extemely effective, but sounds sketchy on a yak.  Commercial dingle bars however weigh around 50 pounds.

Its worth a try.  I will probably use less weight than 50 lbs :)

Good for lings similar to troll.

Find good structure not too many pinnacles but shelves and dips with small peeks.  Cast over the shelf area and let about 3oz jig head and swim of choice hit the bottom. As soon as it hits or at least as soon as you think it hits begin to retrieve it.  Try your best to reel quickly on the first 4-5 spins to bring in slack and keep it just off the bottom.

Usually does the trick for a ling or two.  Works well near a boiler too.  A lot of times reel your line in slowy until you get it to the boat, many lings have been caught in the last 10ft of water.  Lings like to follow bait. My last ling was caught half way between the bottom and the kayak in 35 ft of water.
