You know guys, we could have avoided the whole issue and followed Eric's request to not park down there.

I was about 2 miles out when I heard it.
Even though it didn't directly affect me as my vehicle was at camp, I couldn't help but be pissed thinking that someone else who might be this far out would either have to paddle back to hopefully move their car in time or have to worry about the cost and hassle waiting for them when they returned ruining what would otherwise be a great time on the water.

+1  .....  Shame on the jerk that started it and clearly just wants to ruin someone's day in the water.

Yes he was.  He was also the event organizer with all of the scoring items, hawg troughs, computer, tables and additional items to run the tourney.

Sorry, but that's sort of rubbing it in after the fact.  We stayed in a house too far to walk our kayaks from.  We put 5 guys worth of stuff on a trailer so as not to take extra cars, and as politely as we could parked a little further down the beach to get out of the way, even though there were open spots closer.

To be honest, I hadn't thought of that situation.  I was more referring to people camping who just didn't want to pull their stuff up the hill.

I heard something about this tow thing, but I had no radio because it died the day before.

I've always parked down there and when you get there at 4 AM, you get the rock star parking. We parked our cars 2 deep and well out of the way of the tractor.  I didn't have a VHF that day so missed the prank but was fishing next to Ken and he thought it was BS. We bring a lot of revenue to the community so I think the majority of locals probably appreciate our event. The swell was small enough to beach launch and as the event gets bigger maybe we should think about staging and launching from the beach. There will be some yard sales but the surf is less than the La Jolla where the Steve Moyer is held. Making it a surf launch big game only tourney would be fun.

I seem to recall last year there were signs put up, by us, saying things like not to park and such.  Some of the locals took the signs down because they thought someone was being mean to us and someone had to explain that we were doing it to be courtious to them!  :smt044

This year there was also a sign put on the big log by the fire pit down on the beach asking the kayakers to please not trash their beach.  So I decided to pickup all the trash I could find, and filled a black garbage back with beer bottles, old shoes, and other crap that was laying around.  None of it looked like it was our trash  :smt002

Sunday morning I went down to the campfire and found lots of trimmings with buds and stems.  I started tossing it on the fire to create smoke so the campground could wake and bake.  The campers Saturday night must have been trimming on the beach or a grower brought a contractor bag of trim to help start the fire.

I'd announced to the group that I would be parking down there so I would have space for check-in.  I also asked if people could please not park there if possible, but I acknowledged that it's a public launch and no one really has any right to deny anyone else parking there.  My main priorities were that people stay out of the way of the tractor and other launchers and that people didn't block others in.

My favorite was all the chatter about the towed vehicles. Hilarious!

Man, that was pretty funny.  So many people were in on it, I actually believed it at first.   :smt044

MINUS 1   :smt012  and there weren't many people doing it - just one main local, one other who joined in for a minute.

I didn't find that part funny at all.  If you took part in that, shame on you.  :smt012
