Flipping from page to page in the new Kayak Angler magazine Spring 2013 I came across this advertisement by Yak Attack for a product called Black Pak.

I know that a milk crate is the go to choice but has anyone ever paid for a plastic box that can store all our gear/rods & so forth?

I'm debating on forking out the money for the Yak Attack Black Pak or just rigging up the good old milk crate.

The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river.

This is what I use. Plano box with Berkley rod holders. Its about $15.00-$20.00 for the box and about $10.00- $12.00 for the rod holders.

I use the Black Pak on my Hobie Outback and love it. I went with it over the standard milk crate for a few reasons. The BP has a lid to keep stuff from blowing out and with the solid side panels I can mount the rod holders or anything else the way I want them. The box does come with a bunch of pre-drilled holes to mount the rod holders and also fits the YacAttack Gear track system and Scotty accessories. Next I'll be mounting a flag on the box so other can see me on the water.

It did take about 20 min and a few beers to put it together but the instructions where easy to follow. It came with 3 rod holders, but only mounted 2 to start with.

It also fits well with my tack box and Hobie cart (see pict).

Overall I'm sure you can do the same with a milk crate but it wouldn't be as clean of a set up IMO.
