Rod holder mounting help?

Man, you guys have all given me a lot to think about...
I ordered the round scotty flush mount yesterday so when it get's here I'll try all different positions and see what works best.  If I decide not to use it I'll have a nice paper weight.

I'll post some pictures when I'm done and let you all see what your advice helped me to decide.

I really appreciate all the input!
