I asked a similar question a while back. The main thing i was told to avoid was getting the rod hot. Super easy to do. Just bring your rod and a replacement tip with ya someone will doit or show you how. Just slowly heat the tip only while pulling lightly and it'll pop right off. Apply some hot glue to the rod, heat the replacement line it up and pop it on. I just did the same thing for the same reason I cranked a swivel into the eye cracked the ceramic insert then destroyed my braid with it.

Take your rod to a large sporting good store. They usually have replacement tips and will replace it for you. If they have them, spend the money and get one with a silicon carbide (SIC) ring made by Fuji. They cost $10-15 but never break. They are the only tips I use on my custom rods. If they have the tip but won't glue it, PM me and I will glue it for you at GS. The other way to go is to write Lamiglas and ask them to send you a new tip. Their warranty dept isn't great but worth a try. If you can't get a replacement tip before GS, PM me and I will bring some of my extra tips to GS. They may not be the right size but worth a try.
