Have used it a few times now but just scratching the surface so far. They just came out with the wrist mount for the Hero3's so I hope to get some surfing footage soon. Couple things that have 'gone wrong' so far is occasional 'freezing' where the lcd is stuck on one icon & the only way to reset this is to open up the waterproof case & pull the battery. I'm going to try & reload the latest firmware & see if I can fix this. Also battery life is not good. They just posted a chart on how to maximize battery life & it jives pretty well with what I've found so far. Today with 1080/60 & 'Protune' I got 2hr & 14min with battery bacpac. The chart says 65min so that x2 would be 2hr & 10min. I've tried 1080/30 & for kayakfishing it was just fine so I'm going to stick with the 1080/30 & leave Protune turned off so I can try to get 89 min x2 & fill up a 64gb card without having to open the case & do a battery changeout before the memory card is full. Here's a link to the chart.

I also picked up Adobe PS & PE 11 & am totally lost so far.  :newbie:

Maybe someday when I figure it out I will finally post a video.  :smt088

I've read so many negative reviews about the thing that I haven't even opened mine yet.  :smt009

Your welcome bro. It does take great video & pics. I just didn't realize the facts about the battery life & another thing was I thought I could get more video on the memory cards. So far the battery or batteries have always died first but when I tried to use my 32gb card for a second day it filled up after 15 more minutes or so. I guess the 32gb card can get about 1.5hr & the 64gb about 3hrs. Those fricking cards are $$! I had unrealistic expectations of getting twice as much footage & battery time.

Cam, I haven't used the remote yet but my phone with the app loaded works good to get the camera lens aimed well. Then I turn off wifi on the cam & phone to save battery life. For fishing all day leaving wifi on will make for at least one more battery change out. My goal is to go as long as possible before having to change batteries because if it's raining, drizzling, foggy then I won't want to open the case. I wonder how long the battery in the remote is good for?

Yeah I've had issues with it freezing as well. I also discovered I'd lose wifi connection to the remote when I submerge the GoPro. Last weekend I tried to get some underwater shots so I mounted the camera in a way it was below the water line. It wasn't no more than 6" below the water line and I lost the signal. Every time I hooked up to a fish I had to reach underwater to start shooting.

I still don't regret buying it but I've never used the Hero 2 so I have nothing to compare it to.

The picture and video quality is awesome I give them that.

One outing I had the remote die before the camera. I'd stick to using your iPhone as a remote. iPhone or iPod touch will connect via app faster than the remote.

Thanks Bones that's good to know. I guess I'll figure out what to do with the remote at some point.

Out of the box, I did have problems with mine freezing (both during videoing and during charging). I updated mine to latest software and so far so good. I never use the wifi remote...silly really and burns up the batteries and I added the battery back to it. I purchased some extra batteries for it and purchased the float attachment.

You cant argue with the quality of video with this thing...its incredible. I get about 3 hours of straight video then need to pop in new batteries. My only complaint is the short battery times...

I'm good to go with my Hero 2.
It does everything I need it to do.
I refuse to chase technology. If it ain't broke, don't change it.

So far I'm real happy with my Hero 3.  Even the remote seems to work fine.  The battery do go fast so I went and bought 3 including a car charger.  The android app is still a question mark for me though.

Curious to know if, at the point where you get the frozen pixel, are you missing any part of your video during that time. I have been reading about users having issues with the SDXC cards, including finding at the end of the day that their cards become unreadable (Sandisk brand issue).

I bought a SDXC card when I was expecting to buy a new camera (which I didn't). So I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Those new cards are pricey.

Howard, the only video I've missed so far was when the batteries have died & I was either too lazy or too scared, cause it was raining, to change out the batteries. Taking the battery out has always reset any freezing issue except once when the battery was near dead & I didn't bring any spares.

Yeah now that I've had the 3 for awhile I think the 2 would have worked ok for me. Still the 3 has some nice features, like simultaneous & continuous vid & pics, that the 2 does not. I think they'll have the firmware straightened out & recomnended sd cards that will work 100% soon. I did get the old battery bacpac for my 3 & it works great.
