I bet that got your attention... too bad they were all sublegal!!!... haha... Guided a client into one of my shallow water secret spots and nailed ten flatties on the incoming high tide... all on live shiner perch and 12 lb line and 1/4 oz sliding sinker.

yup, that's the way to do it.  I love Cowell's and new Brighton for that kind of action.

latest reports indicate the big boys are coming in good now also, 40-70 FOW fromCapitola to Natural Bridges, though you wouldn't know from my recent record.

Yeah, everything is really really fishy right now.. We caught 6 over off Cowells, then 4 off ITs beach, hooked into one tha was 15 lb plus.. all in less than 20 ft. Lots of bait in the water and the vis was 10-20 ft...

Its the only place I see a flattie hit my bait 10 feet down on a calm summer day.

That is if its the secret spot I am thinking about.

the same place john guinea pig saw the school of stripers.

if they are tiny, does that mean the bigger ones were there and moved on already?

It means it's the "chicken ranch," where the little ones hang out, like next to the pier in Cpitola, or in the corner at new Brighton.

occasionally you can pull a legal fish out, so it's worth a try.

Brioan G and i hit it one Friday evening using pinhead chovies caught under the wharf.  We didn't get a legal between us despite a lot of action.  We did, however, set up a surfboard fisherman with the correct rig and live bait, and then helped him net his legal fish.  that guy ws STOKED!

BTW, the Coasters were playing at the Boardwalk that night. We could hear them perfectly from Cowells. I though it was a riot to be out fishing and listening to "Yakety-Yak."
