If Shimano would make a lefty in the Tekota model 600, it would be one of their heavy seller. I bought two of them thinking I could get use to it, I was wrong. :smt011 I'm not giving up just yet though. I do love my Avet SX lefty.

On the kayak, I don't go above 20 lb test line. Sometimes I use a stronger leader for abrasion resistance, but I see no need whatsoever to go higher than that for the main line. The simple act of being in a kayak floating in water is enough of a "drag" to prevent breaking off a fish with 20 lb line. I've gotten myself into a few annoying and borderline unsafe situations by using 25-30 lb line, and I learned my lesson....

I'm talking mono here. The lack of stretch with braid let's you break off heavier line more easily with a quick snap (hard on gear though).
