Paddle leash seems like a great idea! But what is a good or the best one if there is such a thing?

I found a Seattle Sports Angler Tangle Free on eBay for $9 plus shipping

Anyone have this one?

What do you all have and how many times has it saved your paddle/paddles?

I need to buy two paddle leashes one for the wide and I

I have used store bought and homemade ones, and find they all work well. These days, i don't even use it at all.  I have lost a paddle once though while it was unattended while clamming... why dont you make one with ziptie, clip and telephone cord (or phone charger cord)?

Peace & blessings!

I like my Surf to Summit leash.
It can double as a tow rope in case you have to help someone out.

Yep homebrew phone cords the others are way to long. I use one for each rod that is attached to the back of my seat with a simple clip that I attach to a loop just above the reel. I have a short one that I keep in the cockpit for landing the fish. When I bring the fish on board I attach the leash. Ask me how my $400 set up is at the bottom of shelter cove  :smt013

I actually don't attach the leash while I am actually fishing. It just gets in the way IMHO

I only use a paddle leash in the ocean. Just gets in the way on a lake. Your paddle will get away fast in the salt, so tie on is my recommendation. Will also slow the drift of your boat, and give you something to grab onto when you fall out unexpectedly in the salt.

I have 2 types:  NRS Paddle leash and a Surf to Summit(SS) leash.  The NRS(which I have had for years)  is light and about 6' coil, the SS is heavy duty and about 4' coil.  After going with a carbon fiber paddle, I bought the SS leash with brass hooks and quick release.  For paddling with the CF paddle I really prefer the NRS leash for  two reasons:  It's light (why have a leash that weighs half as much as the paddle) and it's long.  I found that the 4' leash felt restrictive.  I'm sure the SS leash would be better in the surf or white water.

If you want something that would double as a tow rope, neither of these would be suitable.

I have the Surf to Summit that Rob just posted and it has never failed me.  I just leave it attached to the yak most of the time, since it has a clip to connect it to the paddle.  When I get near shore I pop the clip and get through the surf zone.  The Hobie paddle leash is similar too.

I have one too... Works well and can be used to tie off to docks ect...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
