  Just a thought, regarding the PVC DR (Love it BTW! for it's simplicity!) maybe 2 hose clamps to hold the reel on instead of tape?  Or did you back up some cable ties with the tape?  By adding a line counter reel, that would pretty much take any guessing out of the equation as to depth!

Great minds think alike... I do have hose clamps which are covered by the tape to save my leather seats. I keep track of depth by counting marks I left on the line every five feet. It shows up on the FF and seems to be pretty accurate

hahaha.... You'll be the envy of the lake this summer. I've got a couple ideas as I'm gonna need some kinda shade this summer. Just gotta make sure it'll work on a paddle craft

Well you are prime example of what happens to normal people when the madness gets them.

I'm sure you could form a thermarest on your yak with some pvc and make a bed.

Lol...thanks for the comments Raydon, Sonoramike and Dune12. My apt is tiny I know, that's why the yak gets stored at my parents home 98% of the time, and yes I live in a perpetual state of disarray. 700 square feet doesn't go very far when u have a laundry pile the size of a VW Bug, and a pile of wedding crap taking half of the room, throwing a kayak into the mix made for a cramped week.

It did, I was really happy with it until the wind came up a bit, even in a 6-8 mph mild blow the yak becomes a bit less responsive and challenging to steer. Maybe I will upgrade my rudder to compensate... I think the simple style I used would work for a paddler, I had to use mine when the wind started and I had no issues making a good paddle stroke. Let me know if you want to know any details about how I put mine together.
