im still learning about kayaks and what the requirements should be but this kayak has a weight cpacity of 475 I weigh 290, this probably would be a good fit for me would it? I am still trying to figure out what a good maximum allowed weight would be for me to feel comfortable to fish out of...

Before buying any I would recommend DEMO'ing its not about the capacity its comfortability of the kayak is what matters...remember you will be sitting on it 4-6 hrs, I hope that gave you idea...thanks

At 290 this will work fine... But... if you are going to load it down with a lot of gear of 100lbs or more and do big open water ? a 15 would be better. JMHO !
