I am hoping those that caught fish can share what worked. I am brand new to Kayak fishing and only slightly experienced with fishing overall. I would like to hear tips on what worked. Down riggers, green or pink color etc. What depth, what speed, what tackle. I really hope to learn as much as I can from all the fishermen and women in NCKA. Assume I don't know anything and include even the fundamental basics. Thanks ken

I did not have much Koke luck this weekend. Pink was the color in a hootchie or bug. Pink dodger for one and a pink and purple for the other. 1.2-1.7 mph at 15-22'. On the down rigger. My DR weight has flashers attached to it. The Kokes were chasing the ball at the end of the tourney but not hitting my bug. Could not figure why. Had one in my lap that flopped out and PO'd me. Just after is when they were chasing the weight. Short leader of about 5-6" behind dodger. Size 4 dodger. 7' ultra light Koke rod. 8# flouro leader and 12# main line. Little too heavy main but it works. Pro Cure Kokonee gel on every piece of hardware. Dodger, snaps hooks, swivels. All of it.  And the last thing. White shoepeg corn on all hooks soaked in gel too.

I had zero koke, trout, & king luck on my DR. I'm thinking about picking up some leadcore line to try something different as I really hate trolling that heavy azz DR weight all day.

I was fishing for bass with a 6'' purple paddle tail worm with a green tail. I had a 1/4 ounce bullet weight pegged 18'' above the worm. Got at least a bite from smallmouth bass on all of the rocky points.

I had three hookups and landed one koke.  I was using 6 lb fluorocarbon line with a watermelon colored Seps dodger.  About 12 to 18 inches behind the dodger I had a special ordered flatfish (chartreuse and blue tiger pattern).  I used the Shoepeg corn as well and soaked it in Koke Special ProCure.  I used a DR and had it at the 15ft mark.  Oh yeah.  And NO BANANAS!

But clearly you needed MORE COWBELLS! :)  I might head out this afternoon to the Berry and see what is working.  Not sure how it will go though as it is windy as hell in Vacaville right now!

I caught a couple throwback bass and lost one big LMB trolling a gold Kastmaster with a 3-way swivler, 18 inch leader and 6 inch leader with 2oz weight. Caught the big one at 40 ft and the others in 10 ft. I got nothing on my pink hootchie and green/silver dodger.

Here you go.

I managed to hook 2 koke, landed one 15" beaut on 6lb main, 6" 4lb flouro leader - watermelon side kick w/ double glow pink hooch with corn.
Two rainbows, landed one on "same line and leader" - seps crystal dodger with threaded crawler.
About 1.3 to 1.6 mph, toplining in 60'+ FOW.
Two bass - 15" and 12" on green/watermelon sinko with chart tail, wacky style on rocky shore line 5' +/-.

I had a great time and I look forward to see everyone again. Maybe we can camp somewhere closer to the main body next year. Mike
