Looking for a waterproof point and shoot...this looks a bit pricey but very nice. Wondering if anyone has one and can give me feedback....I like the digital compass/GPS features also....would make a great family camping camera.

I own the older WG1 and love it.  We use it for family outings too.  I personally don't want one with GPS I read reviews it eats up battery life fast and don't need that feature.  If I were to upgrade I'd get another Pentax.  Here's a picture of my daughter I took 2 weeks ago on a family vacation.

Battery drain would be a bummer. I would hope that you could turn the GPS on/off to conserve you juice. They do offer the WG-3 in a non GPS unit too...just thought the compass was cool on the GPS unit.

i think any of the older waterproof Optios will get the job done. Mine is 7 yrs old and still does its thing very well. Under water or above.

Nice pictures...do any of the older WGs have HDMI outputs? (Thinking I might be able to save some money on a used camera...I do want HDMI though)

i am not sure what HDMI is, but the W20 (mine) only has the regular usb port only. Maybe a newer model would?
I'm just saying, NEWER $$$ sometimes is not BETTER.

I've been using an Olympus Stylus for around 5 years now, i believe its the 1030SW and it's been bomb-proof.  They can be picked up on eBay for cheap too, one less thing to have to worry about, if it craps out I can replace it for around $50.
