Took a day trip to clear lake from the bay area. Drove 3 hours each way with my uncle. Got on the water at 6:30 and paddled out about a mile to an island. Fished for half an hour in the freezing wind, winding my swimbait painfully slow across the bottom. Suddenly my rod goes bendo! Fought this beast for about 3 minutes on 14 lb mono and landed her. 8 lb 1 oz. My uncle was nailing 3 pound fish non stop but i was fishing the bigger bait hoping for a monster. We started to see whitecaps so we headed in to the shelter of the keys and scored a 5 lber. Clear lake is heating up pretty good for spring, but the weather is still unpredictable. Totally worth the drive IMO

Man, 8.1 pounds at that age, you are ruined. :smt003  Good luck trying to best that.  Good thing you have the rest of your life to try and do it. :smt004

Looks like you might have kept her.  I'd be curious to know how she tastes.

Btw, shouldn't you be in school? :smt002

Nope i'm on spring break!  :smt044 i put her on a stringer so someone could take a picture for me on land, but she swam away to spawn. My uncle did put a 3 lber in the icebox though. Asian folks love LMB for some reason.

Clear lake never fails to produce hawgs for me, just gotta be patient and resist the urge for trying to catch numbers.

Very cool!! Thanks for posting.
May I ask what swimbait? Osprey? I think I'd be the uncle, happy with the multitudes of 3 pounders.

Roboworm EZ shad in Prizm Perch. 1/8 oz swimbait hook. I would normally throw the hudd deluxe 6 inch but i forgot to spool up with heavier line.
