SCAN supports extending the Stewarts Point State Marine Conservation Area (aka "the ribbon" allowing nearshore diving and fishing) all the way through the reserve. This would re-open Fisk Mill Cove and Horseshoe Cove to abalone diving, and provide an escape valve for the expected effort shift due to the Fort Ross closure.

Wow.  Here's one I'd like to see more details on.

SCAN supports an annual bag limit of 24, only (6 or 9) of which may be taken in Sonoma County-south.

Still not sure what the logic is for the "-south" addition to this statement.  The numbers they are basing these changes on were from reports from Sonoma County, why is Marin County being lumped in without any evidence or stated logic?

Marin County does not see a lot of pressure due to a number of reasons including accessibility and visibility, you have to work pretty hard for your abs.  It is not likely that pressure would increase after Sonoma closure due to the effort required.  I have never seen any evidence that numbers are down in Marin.
