Yester and I will be descending on the unsuspecting fish of the port! Fishing the incoming tide and should be excellent! Warm, little wind, BIG fish!!! Hope to put limits of striper, crappie, cat, LMB and anything (rumors of Sturgeon!) Else We can get :smt005 Never night fish? Come out with us! I'll have the lantern going and a head light for the trip back in :smt003 Let's go get some!!!!!! :blob6:
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I have been going there quite a bit.  I was there today in the 40mph winds!! made trolling difficult to say the least.  there were tons of stripers on the FF.  none bit my bait.  caught 3 LMB's though.  I would like to go at night but can't make it thurs.  How much better is the bite there at night?

Are you guys going out in your yaks or staying on shore?  I left my yak at the ladyfriends house, but would be down to join from shore...

Weimarian, I appreciate the offer, but I already invited 3 other shore based anglers, so I will be landlocked for the day/evening.  In the future, I will have my yak and will definitely join you OTW.  I was thinking of trying some anchovy dropshots for stripers and maybe some chicken livers for catfish...have you had success with either out there?

I would try clams too.  There are clam beds along the shore on that side. I've never tried, but just a thought.

Good luck all!

This time of year it's all about the minnows... My shore set up... 1-2oz weight then tie a hook loop about 2' up the line or a 3way. 1 ft leader and the hook Gama full circle and florocarbon (25lbs) 1 ft higher 2nd hook for cut bait... Toss it out in my special spot (will show you) and hold on! minnow will run around jiggling the cut bait spreading scent all over. (in theory and practice) has worked like a charm every time.......

Off the shore there a trolley rig would work too. Especially for live minnows.

For you shore anglers at the port, the deep water starts directly across from the big round white dome lookin thing after the bridge. If you are across from the halfway point of the first dock you are in a good spot but you need to get it way out to the middle, hence the trolley rig.

On the kayaks, I marked what I think was a school of stripers (30 or so) in front of where Jeremiah Obrien is written on the second dock. This was 2 days ago but I see them there a lot

Thanks guys, now how do I go about getting the minnows?  Are there live bait shops in Sacramento?
