I just drew this one during a meeting @ work hahaha!

Is it geographically accurate for our definition of NorCal?  It's kind of neat seeing the state in the logo.
-Allen

Agreed! Whatever we decide as the final logo perhaps we could use the NorCal silhouette as the backdrop?

How is it that a printing company could print the LingHead sticker 5years ago without a problem, but now it's an issue? Did printing technology decline with the economy?

It was an issue back then as well.  It never stopped being an issue.  The final product is either lower in quality or higher in cost.

I'll take stab tonight at the suggestions.  I should be able to add a tribal element to each, change the top fish to a ling, cross a pole and paddle and put the CA state outline in the back pretty easily .

Higher in cost is ok with me!  :smt002

How about three types of stickers then. Those who fish inland can order an "inlander" one.......those who fish the coast can represent the "coastal" one....those who dive can get a "divers" one. Each one will be different in their own way, but still carry the NorCalKayakAngler.com = just typing out loud here.

Which leads to a good discussion.  What part of this is really the logo?

We should distinguish between a logo and the "stuff" that the logo is used in.  And I too am just thinking out loud here ... so bear with me and feel free to debate.

In the masthead at the top, I suppose the logo really is just the ling head and paddle/rod X.  The NOR CAL is just a wrapper.  Same for the stickers.

The logo itself could be relatively simple.  Let's say, for example, it's Pat's CA Map logo map, compete with "NCKA" in it as we all identify with that.  But other than that, that's the logo.

Now here's where the fun begins.  For the Masthead, I may work NorCalKayakAnglers.com into it.  For a sticker, I may work in ".org" if the intent is to "advertise".  I could work a fish into it (at the end of the line), say a salmon if it's going on a GS hoodie, or a lingcod for a Albion tank top (  :smt005 ), or a bass for a freshwater event.  The supporting artwork would need some guidelines, whether its fish art theme or font selection.

Heck, we haven't even talked about NCKA colors.  I'm sort of scared of that conversations.   :smt009
