Awesome fish, Joel.  Way to haul her in!

Did you fish the 4th to make it 4 days in a row?

Davenport is about 10 miles or so north of Santa Cruz.

Drive north up highway one and pull over at the concrete plant.

Joel, did you guys fish just off the concrete plant there, or did you head north? I'm having my wife's sister & brother in law up this weekend to do some fishing & may take them to Davenport, depending on the weather. I've fished the area a few times but don't really have it dialed in yet.
Oh yeah & on the KPIG surf report Frosty said the operative word for santa cruz was F-L-A-T. Just what us yakkers wanna hear :smt003

Sean, I lined up on the North Point of the Cove - straight out. I was drifting (and jigging the iron) from 70 ft down to 40 ft. Lot's of rocks there - I was pleasantly surprised to pull a butt out of that area.

But, I have seen Halibut pulled out of the South side and even in the Middle of the Cove  :smt045

Good luck! Looking forward to your report  :smt023

Thanks Joel. I've fished it several times but without electronics I always felt a little blind out there, since there isn't much in the way of a kelp bed on the surface, so it's nice to get a little confirmation.  I got a 12lb hali in just about that same spot you described in 2003, and I've caught some nice keeper lings in that area too.
