...sometimes I use Powerbait dough. Not always...but sometimes...I get my wife to buy it when we're at Walmart so no one will see me picking it up...she never gets the right color, but oh well at least no one sees me get it. I'll hang out across the aisle pretending to be looking at the boating supplies trying to point to the right jar for her to get but she never gets it right...for some reason she's always drawn toward the crap with the sparkles in it...that shit never works...I try to hide my frustration...she is a good wife and I do love her dearly...

Really though...I try to only use it when I've tried everything else in my tackle box (I promise) and it really sucks when it comes off the hook and floats to the top of the water...I fear another fisherman will come along and see all the floating power bait then look at me and then back to the floating powerbait in the water and then shake his head in disgust...of course these are usually fly fisherman that see me and the evidence floating down the water...its like an aquatic Hansel and Gretel bread crumb path across the lake heading straight to my yak...I hate those snob ass fly fisherman guys, especially the ones with stringers filled with rainbows....bitches...

I'm trying to become a better fisherman...bought lots of books over the years...

I'm working on my jigging technique and love to throw spinners...I've been buying some cool minnow looking Rapala lures...I made a mistake asking for them at a local Sports shop where all the good fisherman hang out when its a rainy day...I was corrected on how to pronounce the word 'Rapala'...apparently I've been saying it wrong for years...damn...all the other 'good' fisherman just shook theirs heads at my mistake...one of them pointed towards the back corner of the shop that has all the power bait...damn....what kind of a dad am I...I've talked about these lures in front of my kids pronouncing them wrong all this time...what am I teaching my kids?

Just thought I'd come clean as I'm fairly new to this board...I'm thinking about purchasing a casting reel...this is a huge step...perhaps one that will take me further away from reaching into my tackle box for that jar of sparklie stink dough...it'll be tough adjustment though...using a reel that's on the wrong side of the pole...

...just saying.

-Murf

Murph,

You have no worries; we keep the stuff in our tackle boxes and use it when the conditions are right. If you want a "recovery" tactic, pick up those power eggs with the worm tail they work just as good and you can troll around with them too. Kills two birds with one stone :smt003

Marbles?  I still got 'em.  Have been dealing with too much faux macho attitude lately I guess.  Sympathize wholeheartedly with Murph!

No Worries.
I know people that will use a suicidal/kamikaze minnows to take home bass. Whatever it takes to take home fish to justify buying the yak n the gear must be tried  :smt003

I think everyone should get a bottle for Murf so that way he will have his favorite for Berryessa slam.

Great reading, it cracked me up.
