I took the kayak on its maiden voyage this morning.  Rabid Angler and I launched at Collins Lake and set out trolling.  He and his Hobie peddling, and me in my Tarpon paddling.  Being this was my first time out it was a real awakening.   I found that I need to rethink some of the places I put things in the yak.  It’s hard to reach your lunch in the far forward hatch without going for a swim to get it.  You need to remember to put a rope on the boat to tie off with.  You need to play around with the seat adjustments before you are in deep water.  You need to loosen the rod holder track knob so you can reach the rod holder, again….in deep water.  Well that was some of the list.  The boat paddles/glides really good.  It isn’t as laterally stable as I thought it would be but time on the water cured any apprehension.  I didn’t have much luck trolling so I thought I’d give drifting a try for a while.  No luck there but my arms didn’t get tired.   We fished until 1 PM and the only luck we had were 2 SDR’s on Rabids ride.  When we retrieved and asked around the general consensus was it was a poor fishing day.  A few photos for your  approval…

Not a lot of room here.  Changes are coming.

Come on bobber.......bob!

Nice yak! I hope to upgrade to soon the Tarpon 120 from my 100. I'd like to get out on Collins sometime this weekend if the weather isn't too terrible.

Part of the fun in fishing on a kayak is that you can make plenty of adjustment on your kayak that make sense for you. Once you have all that squared away, I'm sure you'll be catching tons of fish on your next trip. Thanks for the report and pictures.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I know I'm in the right place now.  I've done some adjustments to a few things and I'm near ready for those Berry koks.  Thanks again to all that responded.

Fantastic report and great pictures. Family and I are headed up there this  Monday-Thursday for a little R&R. If any of you are up there this coming week, stop by camp site 108. We'll be there, or on the water.
