Fellas if you ever get the time ,you need to take this float.. My wife, brother n law and i started at sailor bar and paddled down to to the sac which was discovery bay at the end of the american river... the river was flowing at around 900 cfs which was a little low w a few bumps in some riffles but it was a blast.. lots of wildlife to see, with perfect weather and company.. David brought us a nice lunch and we kicked it on a beach somewhere and watched ducks and geese do the wild thing lol.. Saw lots of fish and didnt bring a rod just a paddle day but next trip its on!! The whole trip was 22.6 miles and took us 8hrs 45 minutes but we were just cruising looking and paddling once in a while.. Actually stopped at a walking bridge tho help a guy try to retrieve a bike in 6 feet of water, let him dive off the yak w wife and dave to help, well he made 1 dive to 3 feet got out and said it was too cold which it was very cold..  We were also surprised at how many other kayakers in swift water weren't wearing life jackets??  To each his own but that water was very cold and in parts swift..pm me if you ever decide to hit this, fishing opportunities are endless there, if i had a rod we would be stranded tonite

Agreed. Very cool float.
It's Discovery Park at the confluence where the American Meets the Sac.
Discovery Bay is a whole different animal.
I only bring this up because some reading this may be confused between the two.
You want some really great views, do it during the summer time.  :smt003

Nice paddle Jason, I've been meaning to do that for awhile now.
Hopefully this year, during the Shad run.

I find it interesting that the majority of non pfd wearers are novices, while the more experiences kayakers tend to wear their pfd all the time.

I love that float!  Just wait til shad season.

Right now the flows are ridiculously low. Around 8-900 Cfs.

It's a great time to get out there and get familiar with the river. And the wildlife along the river is pretty awesome right now. Saw 3 deer and one coyote on my ride this afternoon.

Might have seen you guys going under the 80 bridge by Cal Expo. Looked nice and peacefull on the river. I wouldn't mind doing that trip. Looks like a lot of fun.

Nice day to be out on the water!
Yep the American River/Parkway is a wonderful resource right in our own backyard. During the summer I love taking a quick paddle in the evenings after work to unwind and check out the wildlife.

DFG was enjoying the day Sunday as well. The stripers should start showing up in the lower sections any time now.

I just spent two hours throwing swim baits and top water around Howe for nada.

Will post up when they are in the system.
