Fished Berryessa from Capell Cove on 3/16/13 from my Mirrage Outback for trout.  Arrived 0700 to 2 or 3 groups of turkeys calling.  Winds were light and I trolled crawlers behind flashers and a minnow both topline and with an egg sinker.  No hits in 4 hours.  I did not see any fish caught - bass or trout.  I did not mark any bait on the fish finder.  Went out past the big powerlines and hit a few side coves - nothing there either. There was nothing jumping or surfacing.  In one cove it was like a mirror and I could see bass at 20 feet.  I dropped in the minnow and nothing.  The bass actually mouthed the egg sinker but said "no" to the live minnow.  The water was quite clear with some suspended particles and patches of floating yellow/brown algae.  It was a beautiful day, osprey and honkers were pairing up around the lake.  Saw one bald eagle.  By noon a jet ski and 3 ski boats were on the water - with no fish I decided to leave.  When I left, the parking lot only had room for about 6 more trailers.  It was mostly bass boats with a few trout trollers and the above mentioned skiers.

Great first post, Woodman.  Full of information - cool that you saw the bald eagle too!  Welcome to the Madness.   :smt001

I went out on the 18th. Trolled Trout Chow flies, along with everything else.  Got a 22inch trout and a 19inch king.  Got several in the 18-19 inch category.  Hooked into another big bass, but, didn't get him in.  Using ultra-light and 6lb test line - took too long and shook me off. Lots of line stripping though.

Seems I fished the same area as you did.  One boat I talked to out there got over 30 bass dragging lizards and a few off of sinkos.

It's turning on fast now .. and .. I didn't spot any kokes ... darn.

Kokes should start truning on any day now. I tried New Melones last week for one quick rainbow but marked a few schools of Kokes at 35' but no one wanted to play. Going to head back out in a few. As usual hot pink was the color. Crazy how pink that lake is.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out for the door....
