I thought the thread would generate a bit more traffic. I think this is a pretty big deal all promotional hyperbole aside. This shows a major effort by  a kayak manufacturer to place itself at the forefront of promotion.   This is a huge commitment from Jackson and shows how dedicated they are to the sport.  I think this will hurt OK sales to some degree.  Obviously Jackson feels Jim's shows will generate a level of income high enough to support the TV campaign and Jim's endorsement deal. I'm sure that has to equal some kind  of loss for OK.

So who is the next OK star?

Or was the cost of promoting in this way not generating enough income to support the marketing campaign with Jim and his shows?

Jackson is all over the place.  If you have ever watched Shipping Wars, the guy with the long grey hair has a Jackson Kayak on his truck and it gets shown often when they show the truck.

I like their kayaks.  Maybe I will obtain one in May. :smt044 :smt044

Just heard the news.  This is a huge deal. Can't wait to see what kind of ocean boat the design. I know Jim has some ideas up his sleeve. Maybe we can  convince him to come to GS7 since Jackson is cosponsoring it with us. I would let him fish on my team.  :smt043 :smt043

Actually this will free up a lot of money for Ocean Kayak. Look to this being a great thing for the other forms of support for the kayak anglers. More money to events that are sponsored by Ocean Kayak.

This is a big deal Craig.  The point you made is huge.  Jim is still on the scene to promote the sport but OK has additional money to spend.  Kind of a win/win.

It sounds like our sport might be turning into a business.

I like change.

I didn't buy an OK because of Jim Sammons; I give that credit to my buddies in NCKA. And the Jacksons do look good.

huh?  I always though I was the OK star?

And, no I'm not getting a "trademark fedora."

Seriously Jim is a good guy and he was a star long before they starting filming. Jackson is already a decent platform for sure, and having Jim on their team can only more and better designs from that company.  I know that I, and everyone I know at OK only wishes him the best in his future endeavors, cause he's a bro.

I don't think Jackson upping sales means OK will lose sales, it's not a zero sum game, it's an expanding market.  The kayak fishing show is enjoyable for those that can receive it, but is it really a major driver in the kayak fishing industry?  I've never seen it because I don't get that channel, but the few clips I've caught on youtube were cool.
