Well my computer is back up.  Good times on Saturday but I wish I could have stuck around longer.  Had to go out of town.  I ended with 1 ling to 27 inches. 1 under ling and 5 assorted rockies they were C&R.  Can't wait to get out again.

Good striper dangle!  There are in there. I hope the salmon improves soon. I don't want to see another 05

Joel,
The guy you forgot the name of is a local who has been fishing for many years from a kayak.

Congrats to all the newbies that did fairly well on their stringers despite the crappy conditions  :smt023 I paddled out to look for salmon....saw pelicans dive bombing around 60 ft. of water...saw a big salmon swim by - only exposing his back side - just like a humpback whale :smt118....so I trolled but to no avail  :smt011  I later decided to join the rest of the crew fishing the shelter cove area for rockfish. I caught and released several blacks, browns and underlings. I decided to use Bill's 7 inch - hand poured - swimbaits just so I could get at least ONE legal ling to bite. But the best I could come up with was a short 22 incher  :smt011 But even with a larger lure, I still managed to get the smaller fish to bite....that's how hungry they were  :smt045

Another newbie,
It was nice to meet everyone on Sat.  I was the one with the SIK.  Mooch said "I had balls", I really think he meant, "Are you sure you want to do that?".  Swamped it during the launch.  I was able to pump out most of the water.  I chummed breakfast shortly after getting out there, then started to freeze my butt off.  Fished some bait then headed in.  Swamped it on the landing.  Thanks to the guys who helped pull me out of the surf.

All in all, a learning experience.
1. The fish finder does work like it is supposed to (at least with bait), so I installed that ok
2. I need to get a skirt for launches and landings.
3. brought way to much crap on board. MINIMIZE
4. need a wet suit.
5. The yak actually handle itself fine pnce I was out there
6. when I can afford one I need a SOT yak.
7. no fish , but learned what and where for next time talking to a couple of the guys.

You'll see me out there again! There was a great group of guys out there on Sat
Thanks, Mike

Forgot to mention: LOST AND FOUND at Linda Mar -

Eric / GTO found a net along the shoreline when he launched later in the morning - he gave it to me to post.

Anyone? Anyone?

Swamped it during the launch. ... Swamped it on the landing. Thanks to the guys who helped pull me out of the surf.

Been there, done that in my old Prijon Yukon at Pacifica. The self bailing SOTs sure make fishing life a lot easier. It was sure cold on saturday, even down here in santa cruz.

I lost my net during the launch (see my post).  I had it bungied to my front deck and it got swept off when I took my first wave.  Unfortunately it also pulled open my front hatch and the next few waves found their way into my open hatch.  I guess I could have turned around then but I figured it was a floating net so I would find it when I landed.

If the net is green with a light green handle...that's what swam away on Sat.  Since I haven't been catching any fish lately it probably swam away to find some fish on its own. :fish:

If that's the net in the LM "lost and found" let me know when and where and I'll make arrangements to pick it up.

Thanks Eric/GTO and Mooch!

Gary

Hey Gary - I do have you green net - the top end of the net is bent out of shape - I'll stuff some styrophoam peanuts inside your handle so it will float next time  :smt002

I'll be fishing either Linda Mar or HMB this weekend - I'll PM you my number if you want to meet for a pick-up.
