Most of the places I've looked so far only take 4 to 6 people per boat.

So does that mean you already have your head count?

Have  you thought about Homer ?     My sister in law has a nice house she rents for 300 / day.

Flight from Anchorage to Homer is about $200      Halibut capital of AK!

Not at all. If there ends up being eight of us we just take two boats.

I think Andy is pretty set on Sitka, and we agreed that we want the whole lodge/all inclusive/fish processing set up.

I stayed at Frontier Lodge. Not as plush as some, and alcohol not included, but they are fishing fanatics. I even went out at 11pm on a low tide with the chef to dig clams.

I have never been to Sitka but it looks nice. Will be going to Soldotna come July for 'peak week;' where everything is in season. Can't wait

I've only been to Sitka a couple times, both as a ferry stop, so I don't know much about it other than there are some cool russian cannons there from when it was a fur trading stop.

A friend's son works there during the summer at a fly in/boat in lodge, and I saw a picture of him with a salmon and a pac butt (both abt 30lbs) he caught within sight of the lodge on his lunchbreak last year.

I'm sure you'll catch plenty of all the standard AK fishies. Should be a fun time for you guys!

Looking into doing a tour in Alaska, Sitka is a really neat area.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Dustin,

You picked June of 2014, is this the best time to go?
Is salmon, ling and Hali fishing all open then?

Thanks
