I just got a hobie mirage outback.  I want to make a skupper cart.  I read somewhere the the skupper holes are 11" from center to center.  Does anyone know if this is correct?

I was planning on using pvc, reinforced by conduit with a hollow conduit axle.

Anyone have any dimensions or drawings for this project?

I got wheels from a harbor freight like store (not hf) for 6.50$ each with a 5/8" id
was planning on using a collet or cotter pin to hold the wheels on a hollow axle.  I want to avoid a solid axle due to the weight.

I was thinking of making the wheels a bit narrower than the width of the boat, but not much.

Made my own cart for hard surfaces for my Manta Ray,  originally my wheels (from a hand truck) were narrower than the yak - result was a tippy yak.  Readjusted to make them wider than yak and no more tippy.  I make my cart out of copper pipe so a quick rinse after salt use and no problems the last couple of years.

Yes, somebody just posted his homemade cart with picture tutorial within the last week.

However, can I recommend that you just go with the Wheeleze kayak beach cart?  Take it from one of many veteran's who've watched countless newbies try to DIY.  While the cost seems like a lot, most people just break down in the end and get the beach cart anyways.

I built a scupper type cart for my cobra fish n dive. Don't remember where the plans came from but it was internet. The scupper tubes were modified for strength after breaking off. I used a solid axle and H F wheels.  Worked well with the original wheels. I replaced them and the new ones rubbed so i have little wheels on it now. Can post pics if you like.

I do not know if this has been brought up many times before. I am thinking of replacing my stock wheels with wheels off of an old "Barbie Jeep" for a wider footprint on the sand. Other than storage on the water, - ideas?

I made my hobie scupper cart from 1/2" galvanized iron pipe. Pvc carts always break.
