Howdy guys. I finally got my shipment in of saltwater plastic & dyes. Spent the last week figuring stuff out, fighting plastic and my molds, making color recipes and being frustrated. I did manage to keep a cap on it though and refrain from throwing anything through the sliding glass door.

For those of you awaiting 12" swimbaits, they are still in testing stages. I am still tuning my molds so that the tail swing will be correct when slow rolling. But they ARE on the way.

However, I amproud to say that my Octo Baits are complete and below is a pic of my first four color combos:
Copper/black
Flouro red/chart green
Orange/chart
Pink/white

I have many other colors too and I am able to pour any combo wanted. I have 9 spoken for, but I will give away 11 more. If anyone is interested in a free octo bait, let me know and I will send them out. Not asking any money, just would like back some honest feedback, be it good or bad.
Thanks
Jesse

I'd love some. I've found baby octopus in the bellies of some of the Lings in an area I fish a lot and I think they'd go nuts. If be happy to post up the results here and on NWKA. They look awesome!

Also, the head is around 3 inches long, overall size is about 10-12 inches. This is a fairly large bait.

Only giving away one per person. Let me know the color and your mailing address in pm. I'll post when they are all spoken for. If anyone here had previously expressed interest, I have your pm still.

Interesting bait.  Does it allow for any scent?  If you can, send me one of the orange/pink.  I'll give it a try up at GS7.  Thanks

The way I finish the bait makes the hood/head hollow. I was planning on running 2 hooks. I was thinking that stringing up a section of squid between the two hooks would be pretty dang sweet.

Sure can. I'll stuff the box with your swimbaits and a couple dabs too!

Having an issue with tail swing on a slow roll. Hate to go thinner on the tail but you gotta get bit before you can catch a fish. I'm just afraid they aren't going to hold up past a couple fish.

Here's my tester. Rattle poured into the tail and cored for the jig head and the chem stick.

The way I rigged the octo:

That's 8oz. ball
2 split rings
2 10\0 owners

Up to 10oz. Fits perfect in the nose. The lead and eye are not visible as you can see.

Grim,

Here is a couple things I discovered going through RnD with my swim bait.

1- The tail mid section might be a little to thick. Prop up your mold on the tail side and re-pour. Try a few different angles. This will thin it out a bit to allow for more action.

2. Thin out the thickness of the tail. I too went thick with the tail but it wouldn't swim right at all speeds, only fast or on the drop. That might be OK for jigging but the swimming action was also a goal. To fix, I got a hot plate and an old pan. Once the pan is hot press the tail down till you get a thickness that swims at every speed.

3. once you get a couple exactly where they need to be, re-pour two or more perfectly. Use these as your production mold.

Oh ya, that octo bait looks tight! if you still giving one out, Ill take it in dark red and white bottom. PM your address and I'll send you a few of my 7.5" swim baits. Let me know your color(s). Mike

+1 on the pink/white, if you're into making the heads also I have some lead for you. I was saving it for Matt (aka fish N chips ) but he left the area  :smt009. We'll hookup soon. Great job on the pours , they look great !

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.
