The event this year will take place on December 8th 2013 at the Barge Canal Recreational Access in the City of West Sacramento, CA. (http://www.cityofwestsacramento.org/city/depts/pcs/boating.asp) (map: http://goo.gl/maps/42hyc)

We will have a potty with sink at the port... small donation needed to cover gas   ($2-3 ea to = $50.00) Thanks Traildad for setting this up... It will be a great relief for all (and the bushes)

tide info here... http://www.tides4fishing.com/us/california/sacramento   Looks like we will be launching at low tide and fishing threw flood till 2 hrs after high tide... This should be optimal!!! Gonna be some fish caught...
The rules for the event are:
Best five (5) fish per person(chosen by the angler) as scored based on the scoring system below.  Since the possession limit is 2 Striped Bass, only 2 of the scoring fish may be Striped Bass.  The total points of your best 5 fish as measured at weigh-in or presented on a camera will be your score.
Fishing starts at 7:00 am and you must have a wristband before competing. I will hand out wristbands at the launch beginning at 6:30 am.
The angler must be on shore no later than 1:00 pm and immediately head to the check-in table.
All Ca. DFG rules must be followed or immediate disqualification will happen.
You will be required to wear a PFD or life jacket while competing.

There is also a competition for the most trash picked up by weight during the tournament, the prize for this will be announced on tournament day.

Since this is a "Series" event hosted by Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series (FreshKATS), points from this event will be added to points for the angler earned at the other events (Berry. Butte, Amador, new malones and the Port of sacramento) to determine the top series winners.

Note that as this is a FreshKATS event, Fresh KATS membership is required for tournament insurance.  The membership is $15 and is good for one(1) calendar year, thus, if you paid for your membership at one of the other events this year you are covered for this event.  If you are not a member, you will have coverage for this event only.

As is usual in NCKA... A pot luck after the event and prize winner determination will be held @ the port but... if gets chilly/rainy for the event ... we will do the awards at the RoundTable Pizza down the street from the event parking lot.  the address is: 2105 Town Center Plaza #F-180 and this link (http://goo.gl/maps/hDVUb ) will bring up a map from the port to the pizza  :)

YOU SHOULD BRING A CHAIR AND EATING GEAR AS THERE ARE NO SERVICES OR WATER AT THE PARKING LOT

LOL
Yikes!

 :smt045

I am surprised the city/county doesn't have one out there already...but then again, I see how it would be tough to maintain.

I wish that spot would be picked up by the parks Dept. It would cost to park and launch but would be better for the area. Too many litterbugs and dirtbags roam that area. The waterway itself has quite a bit of debri in it.

And then also there would be a toilet.

Matt- I noticed the same thing. I'd be willing to pay a fee to launch if it helped keep out the bad elements and ensured a potty facility!

Last time I checked it would cost aprox $100 for the port-o-pot for the weekend.... they deliver and haul away. would have to be attended as what would happen to it if left for all to use is anyones guess... Might have people taking up residence in that area :smt044 :smt044
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

That is much cheaper than I thought it would be! Do you think the rental company would go for having it there just one day? We could have it parked by Jim's truck  :smt044.

I think you are right about leaving it unattended. That would be a bad idea.

I dunno, maybe we could see if enough of us would use it - if everyone chips in a few bucks we might come up with enough $. But I am sure there are those who would rather utilize "free" resources in the area, LOL.

Who will win the 755 CB Glass/Composite Powell Rod this year for this event?  Powell will also be a sponsor for this event.

Don't know for sure but I think that building should still be at port towards the cove going into the private boat launch.  Let me know if you still see it there?
