Moving to Pleasure Cove guarentees that many more smb, lmb, panfish, and catfish will be entered as well.

Wragg Canyon is my favorite fishing cove, I just hate the fees.  If you're camping it makes it worth it though imo.

And this isn't because I want to hometown, I am not sure yet if I can make it.  I just hate the thought of this awesome event changing venues!

No desire to host at Pleasure Cove at Berryessa?  I know they still have camping.  It might add some spice as it opens up the dam for deep kings and the narrows for trout while still keeping the ranch house a possibility for Kokanee.

Just a thought before resorting to changing the venue.

$32 per night to camp. I would hate the fees too.

+1 for LDP and +1 for moccasin point
Smaller launch less busy with camp grounds.

I would think Moccasin also as there is much less boat traffic but I think salmon are mostly caught in the main body near Fleming Meadows.
From what I read online, seems more salmon are either caught by the Jekinson Hill, Middle Bay, or over by the Dam.  Moccasin is a world away from these spots by kayak.  I would look into Fleming Meadows and Blue Oaks.

Yes, that is true.  I tried to state that but it might have been incoherent.

I think from a general kayaker's perspective, I believe Moccasin would be better.  Less boat traffic and just an overall more scenic environment.  From a salmon fishing standpoint, the main body, or Middle Bay is it's referred, is probably where you want to be.  FWIW, my uncle, who bass fishes Moccasin on a weekly basis, does catch the occasional salmon.

Sadly, I probably won't even be able to attend the event so I'll butt out.

The reason I'm not optioning pleasure cove is because they don't open there gates till 8am..That would be very bad for anybody who's just coming up for the day!...and plus they are expensive ...LDP still seems like the best option.

I agree pleasure cove is a Great location and it does make for a short paddle to fishey waters. Well, if pleasure cove is indeed open in April, and if there willing to open there gates early for us and if enough of you are OK with there fees($20 to launch I believe) then I'm also up for that. Lets here it fellas, wat do u guys want to do? April is around the corner!

Hey Ricci,

I wonder if as a group with an approximated # of campers / launchers, they would consider lowering the fees for the event.  I wouldn't say I would be overly optimistic that they would, but it can't hurt to ask while discussing the gate issue.   If I remember right though, camping includes day use so if you camp it is a single fee with nothing extra for launch.  If you come up for the day, yeah the $20 day use fee is a blast to the wallet for sure :(

OK I just got off the phone with Andy at pleasure cove resort and she seemed excited about the Slam to say the least. Pretty much how she told me was in the case of getting guys in there to launch early they would give me the code to there fate and would pass it onto you who participate. Im waiting to hear from her superior's to see if that will work and if they can give us a group discount..cross your fingers fellas.

Ricci, is there a straighter road to Pleasure Cove, or will I need to bring my Bonine?  :smt003
