It's going to be a busy weekend with the spearfishing event at Fort Ross and the 3rd annual Rockfish wars further north.  We'll miss a few anglers to the latter and definately want to know if our timing impacts anyone from NCKA.  I doubt we'll see the spearfishing impact though.

Randy Fry was one of my favorite lobbying contacts early on.  It's good to see his contribution honored.

I went to both Rockfish wars and Spike's Fall Classic last year.  While the fishing was better at Trinidad, Spike's event had a 1000x better hang-out scene, and the food was off the hook.  I don't want to bash the guys organizing Trinidad too bad since, since I like them, but Rob and I showed up late to the Trinidad pre-dinner and ended up waiting a few hours for the hosts (Pacific Outfitters dudes) and had some cold pizza in a cold room.  The rest of the event was on the mediocre side.

While Spike will probably freely admit that he isn't the most organized dude, aside from a few small hiccups his event was smooth and well executed.

I will have to see which tournament Rob and the other Sac guys wanna fish, but if it were up to me I would go to Spike's event.

I'd like to do both. Bigger fish up north, more friends down south. Will make the choice later on.

Very cool that you're getting it out there early, Spike.  I'd love to try to make it.  I'll hate to miss Trinidad Rockfish Wars III because it's close to home, but taking a roadtrip to a new place to me and hanging with core NCKA sounds like a good time.

I've gotta paddle one of those RTM's too.   :smt001

Sorry about last years issues. I am still learning and figuring out how to make and organize the tournaments. the guidance and list afterwards helped out a lot. This is the forth event that we have ran and they are all to support local charities. Last year we had a truck break down(that I was driving) with the pizza and beer and that slowed things down. I set the date on NCKA calander three months ago hoping it would help get the date secured and avoid any conflicts with other events. This years Rockfish Wars is the fourth event of a five event series. The last event (a crabbing Tournament)will also be in Thrinidad and it is to support our local veteran standdown.

I will look at scheduling and see options to change the date since I don't want to split the group.

Right on, Caj. I'd like to hit both tournaments this year, also.

I'll be there, I'll bring some more fossils... Last years event was kind of a milestone for me, after a few night of partying and too many cigs, I gave them up for good and haven't had a single puff since. Cigs, that is.

Thinking about Rockfish Wars in August, Don't want to jack the thread but August 17 looks good! It will be better weather but not a closer to the season.

That the week after Albion and I don't think I would be able to make two long trips in a row like that.

Not on the calander! I Try to use NCKA calander when setting dates to not conflict. I will look for another date.
