Welcome aboard.  I'd go out fishing/paddling a couple times before I start drilling holes.  That way you will have a better idea of exactly where you want stuff.

Oh, and for sure get a Radio and Wetsuit before hitting the salt.  Ask tons of questions, we've all been in the new guy position and asking is the only way to get things going.  See ya around!

thanks for the welcomes! cant wait to go down there this morning and pick it up.  Appreciate the tips on VHF, suit and PFD.  Searching the boards here trying to figure out what i want so i only have to buy it once, lol.
well, the mpg thing.....I bought a freaking prius simply for work and back, gave myself damn near a 300$ a month raise in gas only....hemi to a prius, lol...luckily, my balls are still attached after all of that trauma.

Hahahhaahah! I'm rollin a cabriolet so a prius will be ok in this group. Need some cool fishing stickers though to separate you from the "OTHERS" that drive them... Get out to some events and have fun... I'm sill getting rid of boats. Kayaks are awesome. So quiet and NO GAS BILL OR BRAKE DOWNS... See ya OTW
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Welcome Wildride!  Definitely do some searching on the boards and ask anything you can't find answers to.   Everyone is extremely courteous and helpful and you will get the answers you need.

Anyhow, you're gonna love it...the kayak and the NCKA community!  Buying a kayak and joining NCKA has got to be one of the best decisions I've made in a long time!

Hope to see you OTW one of these days.

welcome aboard!
From a North River to a WS Ride (my yak as well) will be something of an adjustment for sure!  But when I see those guys trolling at 1.1mph in the middle of Folsom right next to me, and I have to slow down to match them...well, I smile real big   :smt005

Be sure to try to hook up with RacinRob and ATD if you want to fish 4 days a week out of Sac...

And this weekend is Crabfest in Bodega, Perfect for a NOOB !!!
