Hi Guys  - I need your opinion if the Promar Collapsible LN-702 Net doesn't snag hooks.  I looking for a new net.

I won it at a Yakhopper event!  It's not bad but not great.  I definitely likes that it folds up but because it does, I made the mistake of leaving it in my hull between trips and it corroded.

I ended up replacing it with one of these.  More expensive and not collapsible but I love it.  I'll dig up the info of the exact model I got later.

I'm pretty sure that is the one that I have. In that instance, it snags every single hook i've ever owned.  Sometimes, when I'm on the water, it snags hooks that are still back in my garage at home.

edit: i lost it recently and don't feel sad about that.  i just grab fish now barehanded.

Mine lasted barely one season.  I neglected fresh water rinsing after every use. It corroded and basically fell apart.

Pretty convenient for storage and transportation though.

Had one - could open with one hand, but not easily. Lost it and just got another for Christmas. This one is too stiff / tight to open one handed and the net matterial stinks (smells) bad. Gets on your hands and irritated my eyes. It's airing out in my garage

My bad, I replied without actually looking at the link.  I had the 701 with the rubber net.  It wasn't knotless nylon - whatever that is.  I suppose the nylon is why this took place ...

it snags every single hook i've ever owned.  Sometimes, when I'm on the water, it snags hooks that are still back in my garage at home.

edit: i lost it recently and don't feel sad about that.  i just grab fish now barehanded.

Thanks Ben, I needed a good laugh!!!

"Outfitted with Catch & Release Knotless Nylon net material this net will not damage the fins or scales of fish."
That part might be true, but the material is a poor choice unless you have a barbless hook.
I have that net and you can play with it if you'd like. Every time I land a fish with it would take me 5-30 minutes to get the hooks unsnag from the net. I had since purchased something else. I like the size of it when folded up, but if you're in the honey hole and you lure gets stuck in net, it's very frustrating.

no good for bigger death rolling fish I can tell you that. I had a big bow and mack turn and turn, I wound up cutting a lot of net material to get the hooks out  :smt013. I had a big mack collapse it when I tried to haul it in once, but I got it.  :smt003

it's very interesting thread - but what net would community recommend for sturgeon fishing? is it possible to use for ocean fishing too?

The Promar in the OP is the exact net I used to have. As others have noted, it snags hooks like there's no tomorrow. During a hot bite you'll spend twice as much time trying to get your lures out of the net than actually fishing. Also, as others have noted, I freshwater rinsed after every trip and the net still corroded and fell apart after one season.

It's not collapsible, but my goto nets these days are the Ego telescoping nets: http://www.egos2slider.com/

as a data point, i did have someone tell me that if you spray it in plastidip it becomes more hook resistant.  I haven't tried it myself since i lost my net somewhere in my disaster zone of a garage and have found essentially zero impetus to try and find it.

Maybe Bird (John) will post his net up, I think you can fit every fish in AOTY in there... all at once  :smt005

Mine landed one fish before falling apart.
