2-1/2 hours later than I hoped for but I'm ready to hit the road. One quick stop to pick up tables and then 5 hours of windshield time.  :smt006

till then...
Tim
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Oh yeah!  Looking nice!  The light rain last night looks to have cleared out.  I think today is the best conditions day, and hopefully tomorrow will be pretty sweet as well as Saturday morning...

I'm currently losing my mind, and hearing that one of our own caught a 37" salmon is making me even more cuckoo!!!   :smt005 :smt003

Been seeing a lot of kayaks pass through Willits today!! Lots of NCKA bumperstickers too. Wish I could make it to GS7, but I will enjoy having Albion Cove to myself all weekend long! Good luck to you all!

Shit hit the fan at work, so instead of heading to the Cove in the morning I'll be heading to the hills around Petrolia. I'll only be about ten miles from you guys, but afraid I have to bow out of the tourney. Be safe and tight lines guys!

Forwarding a Shelter Cove Fishing Report received this AM:

Shelter Cove:

Captain Trent Slate of Shelter Cove Sport Fishing reported fantastic rockfishing on Wednesday’s opening day with 8 limits of quality rockfish and over 75 ling cod to 18-pounds caught and released. Slate said, “We couldn’t keep the lings off of the line, and there were uncountable numbers of 10 to 12-pounders biting everything,” adding, “Half of the rockfish limits were vermilions and coppers.” Crabbing has been very slow, and they pulled 13 pots for only 21 Dungeness crab. He thought there would be some better crabbing up north of the harbor. The winds were really blowing by the time they pulled their last pot, and Slate estimated them to be in the 25 to 30 knot range. They started out salmon trolling at the lower banks, but after 45 minutes without success and a building wind, they opted for rockfishing with great results. There have been a few salmon over 30-pounds landed in the past week out of Shelter Cove. Captain Jerad Morris and his father, local character Rodney Morris, took out the Seahawk for limits of rockfish and a 35-pound Pacific halibut.
