Happy Mardi Gras Jim! Got a couple places up here having a party for Mardi Gras but it just isn't the same. May have to do a kayak parade next year up here!

Look forward to having a beer and hanging out with you this year! Nice to talk to someone from back home!

Thanks dude!

I dove out by the red can (or the green can, I cant remember which, the one closer to shore) last year with Batt, Brandi and abman and cnew83 and was able to harvest a few urchins out there aorund 40+ feet but didn't see any fish.  :smt012

I remember quite a few pinnacles between the hotels and abalone point that I saw on the FF last year come up to 30-40 feet. And I caught a lot of nice fish around them.  :smt007

If I can see anything, I know I can get down to those depths, so no reason I can't find something.

My FF is dead, but I enlisted baitnbeer to come with me and he has one that works.   :smt003

Jim

As long as your tent is 30 yards from the main party corner, your next tent neighbor"s snoring will be louder. Party on.

Peace & blessings!

You're covered, Bro.  Registration with gear orders is open through April 15th - postmarked by Tax Day will work.

The catching of Pacific Halibut has proven to be one of the big highlights of our time at Shelter Cove.  We never expected going into this that nearly every year we'd catch these fish.  The more we focus on it and prepare for it, the more we'll see landed.  I can see half a dozen coming in over the tournament weekend, and eventually half a dozen coming in on tournament day.

Of course, it was Domenic that got us started on the yak-caught Pacific Halibut at GS weekend - or at all, for that matter.  I don't know of anyone in California who caught a Pac Hali from a kayak prior to Domenic in mid May of 2009 at GS3.  Not saying it couldn't have happened, but if it did it's not part of NCKA history.

Dom caught a 39 incher in around 60 FOW I think, on the leadhead that came with the goodybag, and the potential of the GS experience multiplied from there.   :smt001

I didn't get pics of Derrick's Hali last year, and I didn't get any good pics of Terry's 48 incher the year before, but Randall's from two days after GS6 - the largest caught so far by kayak in California at 51 inches and around 60 pounds I think - got a little more press, and it's shown here:

It was a beast!   :smt007
