I saw some guy cannibalized an aluminum beach chair and made himself a new seat for his AI over on the Hobie forum. Do any of you Hobie pro-staffer's know if something like this is in the works for the AI or any of the other yaks? I figure since they already have ones for the PA12 & 14 it's only a matter of time for the other yaks.

On flat calm breezy days a "chair" sounds great. Most days on the AI and even my Revo I launch and land without the seat pad (removed and placed behind my back rest) for a lower center of gravity. I have sailed the AI while sitting on top of the back rest and seat pad which allows me to scoot back a bit further transferring more weight to the rear.

Down in Baja we used the  Pa12's with the new chairs and in really steep wind chop you felt like you were going to be bucked out of the saddle compared to the normal kayak seat. It was more a feeling of being tippy but the boat itself was far from being unstable or flipping. I think you would have the same feeling in an AI with a chair but with the amas the stability would be similar.

I just saw a guy on another forum put a Jackson seat on an outback .It was nice and clean but he said it would only work for flat water because the center of gravity.might work on an ai with amas

I found that outback with modded seat over on the 'Yakangler' site. It wasn't a Jackson seat though. It's actually a Rudy/Halibu77 idea using 1 1/4" pvc & a couple stadium seat cushions. Rudy has a video on his Youtube channel showing how to fab it up.

Yeah that's a different one. The one I found was on a red outback.

Here's the link for the Cuda chair in Outback.
