Arrived McNear and saw a beautiful sunrise with glassy water.  No legal Sturgeon caught today but first place went to an oversize approximately 72 incher and second place was an undersized.  I caught 2 Stripers,
1 fatty and 1 shorty.  Jim hooked and had fun with a mud Marlin which I thought it's a Sturgeon.  Well...still better than a skunk right Jim?  :smt003  Thank you Ranger Jim for organized this Sturgeon derby and provided hot
dogs, chips, soda, etc...Hope the Sturgeons will cooperate next year!   Here are some pictures of the day...

Thanks Sailfish for the report. It was a very beautiful day and it was good to put faces to all the NCKA handles. I am looking forward to seeing the Go pro video of Rockhopper's catch.

Congrats on that striper. Only way could of been better, were it a keeper sturgeon. Day looks too nice to be fishing sturgeon. Arn't you are supposed to suffer in discomfort?

Yah...I heard on the radio that someone from our group "complained" about the sun burn  :smt005

Huh? I was chillin' with my son all day today. Is there an imposter?   :smt002

I would like to thank all that came out and enjoyed a great day on San Pablo bay, I'm glad we had 2 fish caught so I could give away some prizes, Ian Korte aka Rockwalker took home a nice sheakspear bait caster reel/rod combo for placing 1st with an oversized Dino and Marcos Marroquin aka Rockroach came in 2nd for an under the slot Dino and took home a Year Pass for Marin County Parks. I look forward to seeing you all throughout the winter chasing those fish and hope we get to do this again next year.

Thanks so much Ranger Jim.

Simply awesome. Awesome day, awesome weather, and like always awesome company. I only wish more people would have hooked up.

Even though it was a shaker, I landed my 1st dino off a kayak.

I hope Rockwalker chimes in but It was pretty sweet watching one of your best friends hooking, fighting and releasing his 1st sturgeon.  That poor bastard fought that fish for 45minutes backwards :smt005 He was having a hard time staying anchored. So after re rigging his anchor line he evenallay got it to stick but he was facing the wrong direction. I joked around with him about his new technique but I guess we know who got the last laugh :smt003.
When he first hooked up he actually thought he snagged on a log  :smt005 Then all hell broke loose. We didn't get a real measurement but we assumed it was over or right at the max slot limit. Ian didn't want to stress her out more than necessary so we cut her loose. Well done brother.

Too bad you didn't see that fish jump  but I did...  :smt003:beer2
