I took an albacore trip on the Islander back in 2005.  I spent a lot of time in the wheelhouse with the owner/skipper, really good guy.  I think they already had the awesome stern step deck for launching at that time, pretty much the first to target yakkers for extended trips. I'll see if I can dig up some on my photos from that trip.

The boat is big and clean, super roomy, great cabin, great food, and an entertaining and helpful crew. The only negative I can remember is "some" of the other anglers on board...SoCal "all-elbow" types that don't move down the rail like the crew directs.  Lost a couple fish that way, but ah well; no problem with rail hogs when we're on the yaks!

I Imagine YT's will be on the menu, and hopefully albacore will be in the area by early June this year.

This is gonna be AWESOME!!!!!!

Man... I love that boat.  Captain Shane and crew really get the Kayak fishing lifestyle and cater to all our needs.  They give you a very long leash which you don't find on most boats that do mothershipping.  Swim step makes boarding super easy, and the crew does all the loading and unloading. First class. Food is superb.

If you are on the fence... get off and go!

Was all excited reading this thread and ready to put in vacation time, but then read no PA's allowed.  Guess I will have to wait another year till I can get down to a smaller yak....

Is there any issue with diving?  On the first trip Justin was out diving and shot a couple of nice fish.

If there isn't any issue with diving...is anyone planning on it?

It's the same as up here... just make sure you hold your breath while underwater.

Justin shot a halibut, maybe two, and some calico.  The report might show other fish he shot, it's been a long time.

He was hunting in shallow from what I remember.

If you're in, let me know and I'll go too.  It'd be cool to spend some time hunting and some time chillin wth the fellas topside while having a couple of cold ones and hammering the calicos.

Before I use up all my WAF for 2 years...are we sure it is kosher and feasible to go dive on this trip? If we are offshore in like 200 feet of water it may not be doable.  :smt002

Freedivers are welcome!  They'll even put a skiff in the water to watch over you and take you to some spots if needed.

AI's are likely not going to fly.  The issue is getting storage on the Islander, as well as unloading/loading them onto the boat.

One more note ... we'll have this up on NCKA only for another 2 weeks.  At that time, if there are still open spot, OEX will open it up on BWE.  BWE had another 2.5 day trip that I think sold out over the weekend.  So if you want to do this, I suggest you book soon.
