Well I don't think the guy was very smart. If mt wife was like he said the yak for some reason would roll. And then she wouldn't go. and he would have piece on the water.

Years ago my longtime GF and I were having dinner with a group, another couple says to us

"hey you guys kayak, we were thinking about getting into it do you think we should get a double or 2 singles?"

Literally before they finished the question both of us said very firmly "2 SINGLES".
