I have a Penn Fathom Levelwind 60 that I used as a rock fish reel. Probably overkill but that what I do.
Its loaded with hi-vis yellow 80# power-pro
So far only used it twice on a couple of charter boats. I want to downsize to a non-levelwind, probably to a higher gear ratio.
Trying to prepare my gear for when I pull the trigger on a PA
Price... well we all know what retail is but send me over a fair deal
Trade- for smaller fathom, saltist, avet or something similar... can even throw in some cash.
I know im the new fish around and need to earn people trust but I have to start somewhere.
will ship or meet up somewhere
SOLD

Big difference between the level winds and the non level winds 40 vs 24 6:1 vs 4:3 to 1.  but with 4:3.1 you get more torque on those deeper runs.

FYI I am a Penn guy but that thing is big for me.  You may want to llok for a used 200 Surfmaster, not any faster but smaller for Kayak fishing and save that one for boat trips.  You can a decent Surfmaster for about $25-50.  Keep an eye out for one with Newell parts if you can but a box stock surfmaster is easy to work on and cheap.  Best part of old Penn's, if it goes overboard, or gets stolen, it doesn't feel as bad as one of those Avets, or high end shimano's.  Will it be as nice as your Fathom, most likely not, but it won't break the bank.  I went out one day with a few guys and I counted more old Penn's they anything out there 4 out of 5 had at least one Penn on us.  They make great back up reels when all else fails. My hotrodded Penn 500 will pull 36 inches of line at 5:1 retrive  which is better than some other reels out there that cost a hell of lot more.  Spool size can often count in ways most people don't think of.  Keep in mind these reels of yesteryear, were at their time, the hotest thing out there.
