Talking about a grown man crying in a vet hospital. Our 10yo chihuahua passed today. He's been passing out recently whenever he got excited. He turned jaundiced yesterday and we decided to bring him to the vet hospital today. He died while I was filling out some forms. Never thought I'd get so attached. I even used to criticize pet owners who treat their pets like their own kids. Never knew I'd become one. Sorry, just trying to vent.

Well first I feel your loss. But there is one bright spot you did not have to make the decision to put the dog down. I felt so bad here the dog trust me so much and I decide to put it down. I had to do that twice, very hard to do.

Damn Herb, I'm sorry to hear that. 10 years is long time. I'm sure there's nothing I can say to ease your pain. But I feel for you man.

Sorry about your loss Herb.  We're discussing about putting our old dog to sleep and it's not an easy decision!

I feel for you.  I helped my mom & dad bury their 11 year old yellow lab yesterday.  He had been suffering from tumors and they had to have him put down.  The most loyal friendly dog you could ever meet.

I feel for you. Never think critters will be that important in your life then this happens. Got home from work one night about 8 years ago and found both my shepard and my dachs dying at the door. Lost the dachs on the way to the vet and the shepard 10 mins after i got there. Doc told me theyd been poisoned with anti freeze. Cried for days afterwards, they had been loyal friends for many years

Found out from a neighbor kid months later as i was moving that it hard been a little boy down the street that had done it. Seems he took his retaliation for being neglected by his mom out on the local pets.

Sorry for your loss. Not looking forward to that day with my pal Maverick MCbeagle...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Sorry for your loss Herb.  I had to put my dog down at the start of this year and even though I have a second dog, not a day goes by without missing my big male golden.

So sorry to hear that Herb and condolences to you and your family. Dogs are really special.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give ‘em your heart and he’ll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel… extraordinary?"

It does suck thats for sure. As the time goes by the memories fade somewhat and the pain lessens. In the beginning of the loss though, its huge. A void. A deep missing. You had some great times with your dog Im sure. Its sad though nonetheless. Take care . craig.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
Just last nite after a gathering of family and friends had left and I was all alone I found myself siting in a stairwell missing my boy and sobbing. I put him down a year and a half ago. Its so hard.

Sorry to hear it Herb. Just had a scare with my own 4 legged friend a few days ago. Just the thought was bad enough. Been through three, and it gets better, but they're always still there. Hang in there...
