Some pots in bad spots - HMB crabbing - move 'em or lose 'em

There are several pots too close to the HMB entrance.  I assume its one of us. 

Khanh wrapped somebody's gear (yellow line) oround his prop at the entrance and had to cut it loose so you are down a pot.  http://forums.coastsidefishingclub.com/showthread.php?33155-line-weight-is-cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a couple of photos of floats one was a white float with 'BEAL' written on it and it had a yellow smaller float on it as a tandem.  A totally unnecessary rig on a kayak.

A) it's frickin dangerous as it was a jackass day on the outside.  Somebody loses power in the jaws with a good swell running and it a lost boat and maybe lives.

B) its inconsiderate and give us all a bad name

Get them moved (even if you have to hop on a power boat) as they aren't likely to survive long.  Someone will cut then off out of general principle.

don't think it was one of our members; we were out in limited force and drop well beyond the jaws. there were 4 other kayakers out there but not from here, but they dropped even farther then us.

nevertheless, if you're dropping anywhere close to the entrance (jaws) of the harbor, the chances of you getting dungies in REAL slim. At best, you will only get rock crabs; and you can catch them just as easy if you drop them away from the entrance, along the rock wall......

The Islanders were several miles from the jaws. The drift was so fast by the time I pulled and emptied a trap I was half way to Bean Hollow.  Yeah it does piss me off when kayakers drop in the boat lane and/or don't weight their ropes.

It was snotty enough outside that I was only monitoring 16 on the boat's radio as well as the vhf in my chest pocket (under my life jacket).  Did see the Harbor Patrol'rescue boat going out SSW around 9:45.

I saw a couple of Charter Boats running south right passed me.... but didn't see Harbor Patrol.....

Can you give advice on how you weight your ropes? i just bought a couple traps and the leaded rope is a little expensive for my taste, thanks for any info,

I just zip tie a sinker of a few ounces 5 feet below the float.

I was thinking of using old sinkers every 20  or 30 feet but wasn't sure how to attach them ,zip ties it is , thanks.

My walmart has 75 ft of lead core rope for $17. I'm in the process of switching over

I was looking on line for lead core rope  and it was  .92 cents a foot.
