I need to make a maiden voyage in my new OK this Saturday morning.  I plan to launch around 7:00 and fish til about 11:30.  Not sure where to go, this will basically be more about paddling and figuring out how I want to arrange things.  Maybe go to the American river at Howe or just paddle around Natomas or Folsom.  Or maybe hit the Port of Sac for some stripers.  If anyone wants to join me or has an idea on where to go let me know, it would be great to have some company.  I need to get off the water by 11:30 because I am headed up to Reno for a show.

I'm down for 6, that means I can sleep in. I'll be driving a green Yaris with a green Trident strapped to the top.   Are you launch from the parking area that is on the right of Jefferson as soon as you go over the river?

I just got a Tarpon 120 (my first kayak) and I love it. It glides like it is on ice skates.  I am sure you will like it a lot.  Had a little trouble with the rod holder on the front track, one of the screws wouldn't tighten correctly. If you have the same issue it is an easy fix. Love your reference to Hitch Hikers Guide, not many would get it. Let me know how you like the boat.  Enjoy.  :fish
It's a  well known fact that I just made up.

If the biggest part of your plan is to paddle around and figure out where you want to put stuff I would avoid Howe Ave. Too much current to deal with, especially if yo will be moving stuff around to see what works best.
Folsom, Natomas, and even the port will suit your needs much better than Howe.

Biggest part will always be about fishing.  Now that I have had a couple days at home to look and see what I want to do, I can concentrate more on fishing instead.  So I am meeting up with Bones to hit the Port of Sac.

I might make it out there with you guys but it probably won't be until a little later in the morning. Low tide is at 7:21am @ 2.4' and high is at 1:37pm @ 7.5'. Usually about 2 hours before high tide is when we start nailing the stripers, they follow the bait in. Slack tide is usually pretty slowwww :smt015

80 freeway to Jefferson Blvd.  Head south on Jefferson Blvd., as soon as you cross over the river there is a pull out on the right.  http://maps.yahoo.com/#lat=38.56043180966199&lon=-121.52722120285034&zoom=16&mvt=h&trf=0

We are fishing for stripers.

I might head out there Saturday morning with my buddy. We both will be in Hobie Kayak's (Blue & Nacho Cheese). If we end up going, see you there.
