Special thanks to Allen and NCKA for carrying the event and to all our sponsors including Gerardspaella.com (he's really famous but we can still afford his Paella AND he caters :smt003), Richard and Guayaki Herba Mate, Terrafin Imaging, Lowrance, Ranger Nets, Ribz Tackle Vest, Trek Systems, LoopRope.com, Western Outdoor News and Jack's Plastic Welding for their generous support of The Fall Classic.  We're also grateful to Ocean Cove campground who along with a handful of private operators, are keeping access to recreational fishing alive on the North Coast.

Michelle and I had a blast with everyone, seeing old friends and making new ones.  We truly appreciate ALL THE HELP and we're really looking forward to next year, October 26th 2013 at Ocean Cove.  I haven't done a final tally yet but we had nearly 70 anglers registered.

Notes:
1. Please contact me for your T-shirt if I don't reach you first.  About a dozen people either registrered too late or we ran out of sizes.  I have 8 mediums available and can order extras if you want one.  I'd like to place this order by  Wednesday.
2.  A few people won bitchen stuff in the Raffle and I will contact them and ship their prizes.  Next year, attendees will need to be present (or have a friend present) at the raffle.
3. Someone had a breakdfown on their Mirage Drive last week and someone else left the replacement part for him at the Weigh Station.  Please contact me to hook that up.
4. Ocean Cove advised me that there is fresh (delicious spring) water at each site.  I missed it and thought the sites were dry.
5. Next year's registraion for The Fall Classic will be streamlined at the Kayakfishing.com Tournament Page with registration, waiver, shirt size, raffle ticket, extra meals and optional  camping in the group site(s) in one easy form.

Michelle and I want to thank everyone who came for showing us such a great time, we hope you had fun too, and we look forward to doing it again at next year's Fall Classic.

GREAT tourney Spike! I had a blast chillin' with the TC crew Friday and at OC Saturday. I planned on staying Saturday night also, but I was feelin' wrecked so I bailed after the festivities.

Did much better Friday than I did Saturday. Wind came up big time a little after 11:00 both days.

Food on both days was off the hook. Friday night Kiel and I were both heading to our trucks to crash out when here comes Kiet running down the hill with enough hot, fresh, paella to feed twenty people...and there were only six of us! Kiet's 24" cab he caught on Friday was the biggest I've ever seen, too.

Pics in a little bit.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Spike,
Thanks for hosting a great party!  For those of you who couldn't attend, here's a small part of what you missed:

Tiny and Chadrock,
Thanks for the hospitality and appetizers.  Next year, I'll bring my special ab hammer and we'll fry some abalone.

Stuart

Thanks Spike and Michelle, Naomi and I had a blast. Lots of good people, and what a feast.  Gerard's paella was off the hook, as well as Sat. nights feast. Also, thanks for the great Sun. breakfast, Solsrf1.
Congrats to all the winners- and also to the GIANTS!

What a great event!  Rob, Austin (a coworker) and I launched near sunrise and fished deep most of the day.  Since it was Austins first time fishing from a kayak, we didn't go too far from the launch.  I put Austin in one of Dan's demo Cudas, and was a little nervous how a new kayaker would handle high winds and chop in a kayak with a relatively high seat positions.  Austin and the Cuda handled the chop and wind very well, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Austin will be joining the Madness. The fishing wasn't great, but I was able to grind out a decent ling, verm, a large quilback, and a mess of gophers and short lings.  Austin caught a nice gopher, but was unable to land anything else (partly due to some trouble with his fishing equipment).  I was surprised to see so many sticking it out in the high winds until the end.

The awards ceremony and dinner was a blast.  There was a little confusion over some of the awards and side bet, but with some help from Al, who ran around confirming everyone's side bet catch, it was all resolved quietly and all went home happy. The dinner was delicious!  The BBQ was manned by bloodbath, who cooked us up some delicious ribs, turkey and sausage with accompaniment.  It was great to hang with my NCKA family again.

Spike, and those who helped him did a fantastic job on this tournament.  I will most assuredly be attending next year's event.
