Hey Scott, it will be nice to see you Monday. I think I'm going to fish the jetty area and see if I can pull up a greenling or cabbie. If the weather makes it a drop traps and get back to land kinda thing, I'll gladly bring the BBQ and join you for a Shore Lunch. I'll keep you posted on what I plan to do.

Jeff

I'll bring some sausages and buns. Is it a covered BBQ or open grill?

After working to get this set up and seeing a great response :smt003, I regret that work dropped an egg on my plans for a day off :smt012 :smt011.  I have a team of evaluators coming in  :smt013.  With what has gone on the East Coast in the last week, my boss wants me there as this has a segment for Emergency Management, so I am screwed.  You guys have a great time, and please post some good pics.

Great idea! Thanks Scott! The Weber will be there! Maybe I'll bring sausages then. I think I'll throw together a loaf of Banana Bread as well.

Almost forgot, just want to throw this out there for the Monday crowd if anyone likes Half Moon Bay Brewing. I love their pumpkin ale. I've got a growler to refill.

You guys up for a new guy tagging along? No VHF, and only 1 hoop and some rods, but would love to pick up a few crabs ;) And how deep are we talking about here?

No problem as long as you have a PFD, are dressed for immersion and can self rescue. I can bring another 2 hoops if you bring some bait. you only need 50' of rope. Crabbing is 25-40 FOW. Hoops come with 100 feet of rope.

This is the NCKA gospel. Should be on every newbie post.

Sounds like a great gospel. Got all of that covered. Would love to borrow those 2 hoops if you can bring them, but no biggie if you can't. I still need to catch my first 'yak fish too, so 15 minutes of fishing between checking the hoop is fine too.

Ill bring 2 hoops for you to use. I can keep an eye on your hoops if you want to fish. The reef is about a 15-20 minute paddle from the crab area.  Jeff is a long soaker so he can probably fish with you. You can soak hoops for up to 2 hours which is plenty of time to catch rock fish. Bring shrimp flies, cut squid and a 2-6 oz weight.  Are you going to join me and Jeff for lunch? We have seabass, banana bread and beer so far. Typical NCKA potluck. :smt005

GB- Sounds great. Thanks. And don't worry about keeping an eye on the hoops. I figure I'll work the 3 of them for a while, then leave it for one long last soak and go fish a bit. Collect everything on the way in. I've got some salmon spine, tuna spine and a mess of squid. That should do for bait, right? Also, this is gonna sound a little stupid, but ideas for keeping the crabs on board after catching them? And thanks for the lunch offer, but once I hit land, I've gotta split back to the house.

Bring an ice chest to bring them home in. I'll bring you a gunny sack. You will need a gauge.
