Whats up NCKA members!

I am the new guy here without a kayak.  Looking for years and finally ready to pull the trigger before my wife convinces me to get rid of my trusty bayliner which mainly is used during the winter time for striper and sturgeon fishing.

I think i'm getting a perception pescator(old tarpon 120 model), but i've been looking around for Ocean Kayaks with the rodpod.  If i like the sport i'll probably get a hobie with mirage drive.

I need some kayak fishing buddys!  I would love to go kayak crabbing, and catch some good eating fish.

My Background
I'm an IT consultant that grew up in Massachusetts along the coast.  I used to go snorkeling for lobsters, i miss it.  I moved to Cali in the mid 90's to Mountain View.  I live in a gated area that has 4 private lakes with huge bass, i have done alright with bank fishing, there are no motor boats allowed.

Thanks for having me!

JimmyD

Welcome!!

If you want to go out and dive some time out here there are quite a few of us that go out pretty frequently...

I'll show you around diving sometime if you let me come catch some big fat bass off the yak in your private ponds!

Welcome,go out and demo some yaks before you decide on wether you like yakking or not.my brother in law wanted a yak really bad so he rented a ocean kayak out of sausolito I think.well after some time on the water and very burnt red legs he decided he didn't want one.but he ended up buying a hobie outback and he loves that,so go out and demo a few. :smt006
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

That's wicked frick'n pissah! Fellow nor'easter here, welcome! I went to UNH and grew up in southern NH. The group is great and you'll meet some really awesome folks and fisherman to boot. Hope to see you on the water sometime and tests ride some yaks before you pull the trigger. Mike
