We have a great tournament at Lake Berryesa in the spring and this weekend crab season opens, Doran beach is great in Bodega bay but dude, learn to kayak first then the fishing will follow and always dress for submersion get a good fitting pfd and get a VHF radio.
look at the hookups, lots of great people here willing to share their knowledge.

I agree on that, talk to Victor and Dan at headwaters, they get used kayaks in their store and can help you find a good one, they also have good pfd's and other gear, they put seminars on fishing and safety. They are not the biggest but they are the Most helpful and  you will make great friends there. tell them that you are a new NCKA member and you will get a discount too.
They kayak fish and understand what you need not what their boss is trying to push that month.
