Great photo!
I've done the same; added flashers or a dodger and a hunk of worm but wasn't successful, so it's good to hear it's not my technique.
Did you use a downrigger or just troll behind the PA?  How far out did you let the line and what was the trolling speed?

no downrigger was used i let out about 60 yards or a third of my spool and trolled about 1.2 mph any faster and they wouldn't hit it and most hits came in 40 plus feet of water from resort store old launch ramp east . I bought my flashers from the resort store when they opened on Sunday it was my first time using them lol i read a post on hear by Mooch that really helped a bunch thanks for that write up  :smt006

Good to see someone pulling something out of Caples!  Any idea what the water temps were?  This is about the best time of the year for fishing the high country!

Thanks for the report davy cricket  :smt003. I'd like to get out there at least once too before the snow come in. Only time I've seen it was from shore before I got the yak, and even then I caught limits of nice looking trout.   :smt001

I popped over there on Saturday evening. When I launched at the EDID ramp at around 5:30 and I could see a yak with a flag, off the peninsula by the resort. I guess that was you?  :smt006

I was hoping to hook into something bigger, so trolled with a 3" Diawa minnow (gold w/ a black back) and a 3.5 Coyote spoon. I went to the east end of the lake since that was the direction the wind was blowing. I started out trolling pretty deep with 1 1/2oz of lead, but wasn't hooking much and was marking lots of fish from 5-25' down. Took off the weight and started longlining and got plenty of hits, landing 4 'bows from 10-13". No sign of big browns, which I was hoping would show at dusk.

It was 7:45 when I landed back at the launch. The host met me and told me that it was supposed to close at 7:00! When I drove in, I saw the signs that said it closed at 8:00, so I mentioned them and he admitted he hadn't gotten around to changing them.  :smt012 He did tell me that folks had been catching lots of planters, but no big fish.

Was a beautiful evening, but the next time I want to try for a trophy I'll probably drive down to Silver lake, or over to Union Valley.
