So I couldnt sleep last night, my last trip down to Alameda never came through so since then ive been itching for something besides Clearlake,, yeah im spoiled.. haha..

Took off from the town of Clearlake at 6:15 am , made it to lakeport, stopped by the store near Jack in the box, picked up 12 live for 12 bucks, not bad..  Made it out on the water at 830 (a jack in my box that I still regret!),  got there and there was noone on the lake.  It was glassy as glassy can be.

No signs of any action , but there was plenty of bait to be had at the hwy 20 launch , but i was set already.

Make my way past the first point and start trolling with 12lb test , 2/0 hook and about 1/4 oz in split shot, (didnt have anything else).

Actually I pulled out my stripper rig that I got from Leonards at Black point.  It is a steel leader with two drop downs for two hooks and a swivel.   I was skeptical for Mendo and sure enough no love so I quickly turned back to a normal type rig..  I think that setup might work out in the bay trolling ,but just didnt feel it in mendo.

So anyways basically trolled the whole east side almost to the end and over to the island.  I didnt see one boil ..  oh well I put in about 5 hours , got a nice sunburn on my back through my shirt!..   I went swimming in the end and cooled off before the trek back to Clearlake.

Better luck next time!>
