MHO is to keep your mind off that and respect the water.  I believe other means have higher probability to get ourselves into trouble than the landlord.  Check your equipment, PFD, VHF, have everything arranged properly and tied them down before you launch.   Make sure ALWAYS carry a 15-20 feet of rope with you and can be deployed if you ever fall into the water.  Stay close while in the water, if something happened, stay calm, the rope will ensure others can reach you and pull you back to the closest yak and help to move your yak back to the upright position without getting themselves into trouble.  Lost properties can be replaced but not a life.  I am assuming landloads can be anywhere around the California coast open ocean waters with the exception of the area covered by thick kelp beds, presumably; SC, Montery Bay, HMB, Pacifica, Linda Mar, and among other places are not exempted.

BTW - Darius suggested to launch from Bean Hollow, Actually, Pigeon Point is a real mellow place for launching and landing compared to Bean Hollow.  Bean Hollow is not as calm as Pigeon Point especially in the afternoon when you done for the day and ready to land because the cove facing direct west, the swells are congested and created waves; whereas, the Pigeon Point Cove is facing south/southeast and is protected by the rocks on the north side.  As a result, the wave effects generally is not as serious as Bean Hollow.  I never got washed out at Pigeon Point after done for the day, whereas, at Bean Hollow, I got washed out big time just two weeks ago, the waves literally went over my head just before I touched down and my Raptor got stuck on the beach from all the water in the yak while the waves continuously pounding on it.  We can move to Pigeon Point to launch and land, If you are not comfortable launching from Bean Hollow.  Juat want to make sure everybody are having a good time there together.  Cheers
